Big Hearts to Little Hearts is
an organization that was formed by a family whose daughter's life
was saved by CHOP during an open-heart surgery to correct a congenital
defect known as Transposition of the Great Vessels. Since its inception
in 2003, Big Hearts to LIttle Hearts has grown to include many grateful
families whose lives have been touched by the everyday miracles performed
by the Cardiac Center here.
Since 2003, Big Hearts to Little Hearts has raised
$450,000 for research, education and community outreach at The Childrens
Hospital of Philadelphia. The Jersey shore based charity hosts an
annual Heart Ball in February, at the Bath & Tennis
Club, in Spring Lake NJ, and an August blood drive.
The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia serves
New Jersey shore families. Since its start in 1855 as the nation's
first hospital devoted exclusively to caring for children, The Children's
Hospital of Philadelphia has been the birthplace for many dramatic
firsts in pediatric medicine. The Hospital has fostered medical
discoveries and innovations that have improved pediatric healthcare
and saved countless childrens lives. Children's Hospital also
ranks as the nation's finest in a survey of pediatric hospitals
by U.S.News & World Report. The magazine's 2007 guide to Americas
Best Childrens Hospitals ranked it as the best hospital
for children in the United States for the fifth consecutive year.
